The following list of special dance events consist primarily of events that are within road trip distance of Washington DC, or merit mention because of interest, whim, or importance. Events range from workshops through national swing dance conventions and camps. These events primarily emphasize Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing, with some zydeco, hustle, ballroom, and Argentine Tango. The list is DC-centric and not meant to be complete. Music & dance workshops centered around the ENA, the National School of Arts of Cuba, which is located in the "playa" area of Havana (near the sea-shore). Lots of opportunity for street and club dancing.
Accomodations are in the "Casa Fina", the foreign students dormitories of the ENA. These are small houses 2 minutes from the school. Each house has a few rooms for 2-4 students with shared bathrooms. It is simple yet clean, air-conditioned and with very good atmosphere.
